Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
16 oz. chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Beat butter, sugars, vanilla and egg until light and fluffy. Mix dry ingredients and blend into butter mixture. Stir in chocolate and walnuts. Chill at least  1 hour or overnight. Use heaping tablespoon on ungreased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Cool 2 minutes before removing from pan. Cookies are thin (add 2 tbs. additional flour to batter for thicker cookies).
